Post 11: Romeo and Juliet 1.5

Choose ONE of the following questions to respond to in a full paragraph with a topic sentence.
  • Romeo falls in love with Juliet immediately upon seeing her.  Do you believe
    in love at first sight?
  • In 1.5 and 2.2, Juliet and Romeo insist on keeping their love secret.  They
    believe that privacy is essential to their love being genuine.  Given facebook,
    twitter, etc., do you feel the state of privacy in the USA is in shambles or
    ok?
  • In Mercutio's Queen Mab speech in 1.4 and Juliet and Romeo's sonnet in 1.5,
    language takes on a magical power--the power to transform the world, the power
    to create new worlds.  Do you believe language has this power?  Why?

I do not beleive in love at first sight. I think that the idea of loving someone has to be established by the actual person and not what they look like or the person that they appear to be. Love at first sight is based off of looks and a first impression which is really not loving the actual person. Loving someone is knowing that persons flaws, weeknesses, bad habits, and being able to put that aside and see the bigger picture there is to this person. I beleive you must get to know a person before you can love them. I think that there are different forms of love also. Theres "falling in love" which is the type of love that i described. I have a theory that there is also "Momental love" which is loving in the moment. You love how the person is treating you and what the person is like at that moment but they may change and you may not love that person anymore. I think this is the type of love that us as humans experience the most because REAL love is unconditional and it never ends. Im sure all of us has said that we love someone and that person went from being our life to the person who even though we felt that way before is so far away from our hearts. So to answer the question no I do not beleive in love at first sight.

When I was a teenager, yes, I believe in love at first sight, but when I grew up I realized that, yes, you might become attractive to a person that moment, but to be in love and get married that's not true. Now I believe that true love waits. If you are meant for each other the relationship will grow and shielded by God.
